Ogun Assembly Confirms Amosun’s Commissioner Nominees

The Ogun State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s nominees for the post of Commissioners II &IV in the State Civil Service Commission, Mr. Mojeed Ekelojumati and Adeleke Micheal Adebayo following their screening earlier in the day.

The approval was sequel to the adoption of the report of the Committee of the whole house chaired by the Speaker, Suraju Ishola Adekunbi, presented by his Deputy, Olakunle Oluomo, who also moved the motion for its adoption which was seconded by Hon. Olusola Sonuga.

The confirmation of the nominees was thereafter done through a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Adeyinka Mafe, seconded by the Minority Leader, Olawale Alausa and supported by the Whole House through a voice vote.

The Assembly had earlier screened the nominees during a meeting of the Committee of the Whole House chaired by Speaker Suraju Ishola Adekunbi, who also charge them to put their experience to bear on the commission to further reposition it for effective service delivery.

Adekunbi, represented by his Deputy, Olakunle Oluomo urged the nominees when confirmed by the Assembly and appointed by the Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun to see their appointment as a call to service by consolidating on the gains of the State public service towards sustaining the ideals of discipline and effective service delivery that the State civil service was known for.

He explained that the State Civil Service which paraded an array of seasoned administrators committed to achieving the success of government’s policies and programmes, should be strengthened for increased productivity in line with the rebuilding mission of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led- adminstration.

The nominees, Mr Mojeed Ekelojumati and Micheal Adebayo in their separate submissions, described the Civil Service Commission as performance driven and result- oriented system with a promise to ensure human capacity development programmes to further equip it for improved service delivery.

Mr. Ekelojumati bagged Master of Arts in English Language from the University of Lagos and Bachelor of Arts in English from Lagos State University in 2008 and 2003 respectively while his counterpart, Adebayo possessed Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Adekunle Ajasin University in 2014.

It would be recall that the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun had last week forwarded the names of the two Commissioner-nominees to the Assembly in replacement of two members of the Commission whose tenure of office has expired and to forestall any impediment in the Commissions’ effectiveness.
